5 Wrong Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton Adoption And Surrogacy Rumors

The tabloids frequently claim Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are having a baby through either adoption or surrogacy. Gossip Cop has debunked countless variations on this narrative. Here are five wrong rumors.

Last December, Gossip Cop busted the Globe for falsely claiming the couple was adopting a two-year-old orphan girl. The magazine contended that the pair had started the adoption process and would be bringing the little girl home “after the new year.” The unreliable outlet failed to provide any actual details about the supposed adoption, such as where and how they found the two-year-old girl they planned on taking in. It’s now a few days into February and the couple hasn’t brought a home an adopted child, nor were they planning on it. The tabloid’s story was based on claims from an anonymous “source,” but a spokesperson for Stefani assured us it was false as soon it was published.

Gossip Cop called out Us Weekly last November for wrongly reporting that Stefani and Shelton were in the final stages of choosing the woman who would be their surrogate. The magazine said the No Doubt singer had wanted to carry her boyfriend’s baby herself, but after multiple failed IVF attempts, they decided hiring a surrogate was the best course of action. Stefani’s rep, speaking on her behalf, dismissed the story when it first emerged. Time has proven it unequivocally false.

Last May, HollywoodLife made up a story about Mother’s Day inspiring Shelton to want a baby with Stefani. The blog claimed that spending the day with his girlfriend and her three sons was a “sad reminder to him that he never had kids of his own.” The site went on to say that the couple ended up having a discussion on Mother’s Day and agreed to explore both surrogacy and adoption so they could start their own family. Gossip Cop, however, was told on the record by Stefani’s spokesperson that the blog created the narrative out of thin air. As we noted at the time, Shelton said on the “Today” show that he “missed out on a lot” before his girlfriend’s kids came into his life, but made no indication that he and Stefani were having a child of their own.

Gossip Cop busted In Touch in March 2017 for claiming Stefani was secretly adopting a baby girl without her boyfriend’s knowledge. The magazine asserted that the singer was keeping Shelton “in the dark” about her supposed plan, but was arranging “a private, romantic dinner” to present the adoption scenario to him. Naturally, the entire scenario was totally implausible. If Stefani’s adoption plans were so top-secret that not even her boyfriend knew about them, then who did she tell and why did they leak the news to a tabloid? The real explanation, as the No Doubt singer’s rep told us, is that the story was 100 percent “untrue.”

And finally, Gossip Cop called out Life & Style in February 2017 for wrongly reporting that Stefani and Shelton were putting their supposed wedding on hold to have a baby. The magazine said the couple wanted to have the child naturally, but they’d either adopt or use a surrogate if it didn’t happen. Of course, the music superstars never had a wedding in the works. As recently as December, Stefani said on the “Today” show she feels “zero pressure” to get engaged to her boyfriend. And as time has proven, the couple never adopted a baby or used a surrogate after supposedly failing to conceive on their own.
